COVID-19 Update

As April is coming to a close, the past two months have been a stark reminder of how fragile life can be — and how the world as we know it can change overnight.

At Preferred HealthStaff, we are committed to the safety and health of our clients and their families, as well as that of our personal caregivers. This never has and never will change, but this commitment has become even more of a priority with the spreading pandemic, especially in light of the fact that seniors are the most vulnerable to the coronavirus threat.

As a home care business built on caring for the elderly and immunocompromised, the team at Preferred HealthStaff wants to put your mind at ease about the extra precautions we are taking for your loved one.

Keeping You Safe

First and foremost: we are fortunate that no staff members or clients have any symptoms of COVID-19 at this time.

Secondly, rest assured we utilize a third party for the most current materials available in regards to COVID-19 training, infection control, universal precautions and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). All caregivers have been trained in the use of this equipment.

Continued hand-washing instructions and demonstration of competency in all these areas is also a necessity for the continued safety of our clients and staff. We follow the CDC’s recommendations on hand washing and encourage you to do so as well.

In addition to providing masks and gloves for our staff, we are providing them for every member of their households. Caregivers have been very appreciative of our efforts in making sure that they are protected as much as possible even when they are not working. We also provide gloves and mask that are individually packaged for clients who choose to leave their homes or have family members providing care who travel to public places such as grocery stores.

For your further peace of mind, the President of Preferred HealthStaff is a licensed nurse and healthcare instructor.

Ongoing Protocols

We use a “check-off list” in our scheduling software to monitor and audit that all measures put in place are sufficiently completed.

We have also put an emergency triage plan in place which is documented and maintained in the office to determine the level of supports necessary for each client. This is based on a tiered hierarchy and ensures we have a consistent and precise measure of safeguards to match the necessary needs of each and every client.

This breakdown is documented by administrative personnel and in the agency’s software system ERSP.

We have notified all clients and their families that we are in very close contact with state and local officials, monitoring the COVID-19 situation throughout every day. Our priority is to ensure that we are protecting the health and welfare of our clients, caregivers, and internal teammates.

We have plans in place for the office staff to work remotely, if necessary, so the office will never be officially closed. Someone will always be available if you need to speak.
